The Myth of Chinese Universities

Chinese politicians frequently brag about how Chinese Universities are the best in the world. Everyone else in the world, including most Chinese, knows better than to believe this propaganda. First, part of what makes American universities the best in the world is freedom of thought, freedom of speech, and freedom of innovation. Top down, government censored and government controlled universities will never be the best in the world. Also, how many high ranking communist party officials send their children to study abroad? If Chinese universities are so great, why does every rich government official send their children abroad to study? Even Ping Pong sent his daughter to Harvard.
